The Why Behind the Newsletter

Hi there 👋

I am Adlet, a Senior Software Engineer at Delivery Hero. You might not have heard of Delivery Hero, but it is the parent company of many well-known food tech brands around the world, such as Talabat, Foodpanda, Foodora, Glovo, PedidosYa, Baedal Minjok, and more. I was raised in Kazakhstan 🇰🇿 and am currently living and coding in Berlin, Germany 🇩🇪. I will be writing about software engineering and career growth here.

In just 3 years, I was promoted from a New Grad to a Senior Software Engineer at a big tech company by the age of 24. I was fortunate to receive exceptional mentorship along the way. However, I understand that finding such mentorship - especially for technical growth and career development - can be challenging at various stages of one's career. That’s why I’ve decided to share the knowledge I’ve gained through this newsletter, with the aim of helping others who may not have access to insightful and impactful guidance.

I'll be posting roughly biweekly. I believe every software engineer should be a generalist, so expect this newsletter to cover a wide range of topics within software engineering. You might find articles on system design approaches or even how to discuss promotions with your manager, and much more. I don’t think there’s a single right way to build a blog or newsletter. This will be my playground, where I’ll experiment and learn, and I hope you’ll learn and have fun along the way too.
